About Dr. Shalini Akunuri
Dr. Shalini Akunuri is a dedicated and experienced Pediatric Intensivist with a distinguished career in both Indian and international healthcare. She graduated with an MBBS from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, and obtained a DCH degree from the prestigious Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad. Her commitment to children’s health propelled her to pursue DNB in Pediatrics at Lotus Children’s Hospital, Hyderabad. Recognizing the need for an increased number of doctors specialized in treating sick and critically ill children she obtained a fellowship in Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore, and also achieved the prestigious Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health Fellowship from the UK.
To broaden her professional skills, she moved to the UK, where she worked for four years, gaining invaluable experience managing critically ill children, including those requiring transplants and ECMO support. She has also been trained in the intricate transport of sick children, ensuring comprehensive care across borders. With her extensive experience and training, Dr. Shalini is committed to advancing paediatric intensive care services.
She is especially passionate about medical simulation, an exemplary teaching technique she employs in workshops and training programs for junior doctors and nurses. Dr. Shalini’s dedication to medical education extends to her involvement in research, where she has numerous publications to her name.
